Looking for a gift your hubby or Dad for Father's Day? Why not a hand-made wallet and include some gift cards or cash!!
I found this wonderful creation on Lorri Heiling's blog here
I'm going to do a little tutorial, so you can see how easy it really is!!
Stamp Set: All Holidays, For Father (Occasions Mini 2008)
Card Stock: Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Tools: Crafter's Tool Kit (for piercing), Cutter Kit (for distressing), Sticky Strip, Corner Rounder
Cut the following pieces of Chocolate Chip Cardstock:
Piece 1 - 9 x 3 1/2"
Piece 2 - 8 1/2 x 3 1/4"
Piece 3 (CUT 2) 4 1/4 x 2"
Piece 4 (CUT 2) 4 1/4 x 1"
Step 1: Using a sponge dauber, sponge edges of all pieces
Step 2: Piece 1 - Score this piece 1/16" of an inch on either side of the center (4 1/2" is the center).
Step 3: Piece 1: Pierce around outer edge of this piece with piercer and mat template
Step 4: Faux Stitch with a black Stampin' Write Marker on the piercing to give it a stitched leather look
Step 5: Piece 1 - corner round all 4 corners
Step 6: Piece 2 - using Sticky Strip, tape one horizontal side and both vertical sides. Adhere this piece to the inside of Piece 1.
Step 7: Pieces 3 & 4 - Adhere sticky strip to three sides (one long and two short sides) of these 4 pieces. Adhere these 4 pieces by lining piece 3 even with Piece 2 and then Piece 4 over Piece 3 on each side of wallet. These make 4 pockets for gift cards and sentiments.
Sticky Strip added to each piece on three sides
Pieces 3 adhered to Piece 2
Pieces 4 adhered over pieces 3
Step 8: Stamp sentiment on the "patch" which is approximately 2 1/4" x 2". Pierce around the edge with the piercing tool and template and then distress the edge with the distressing tool. Adhere to the front of the wallet
Step 9: Taking your Chocolate Chip Ink pad - drag it over the outside and inside of the wallet to give it an even more leather/old look
Step 10: Last step was to stamp the sentiment from For Father stamp set on a piece of Creamy Caramal Card Stock, corner rounded and sponge daubed around the edges. This piece was cut 3 1/4" x 2 1/4" to fit into the pocket!!
