Embossing with Heat

Our next technique class is Tuesday and since we are up to "E" and "F", the technques will be Embossing with Heat and Faux Wood.

Embossing is probably my favorite thing to do and I don't do enough of it!! I have made up some examples and one of these will be the one we do in class and the sample for our technique albums. The following cards are in no special order - I just tried different ways to emboss and had lots of fun doing it!!

#1 Embossing

I cased this card from Sue M from the Stampin with Beate List. Sue did a similar card, but it was in a size I didn't have envelopes for, so I just changed and made it to fit the A2 envelopes. I thought it was just stunning!!

Stamp Set: Live your Dreams
Card Stock: Chocolate Chip, Soft Sky, Afternoon Tea Designer Paper
Ink: Chocolate Chip, White Craft Ink, White Embossing Powder
Embellishments: Hodgepodge Hardware Silver, Chocolate Chip Twill Ribbon, Piercing Tool

I stamped the flower with white craft ink and then embossed it with white embossing powder. I love the look of the piercing around the one flower petal!! Thanks Sue, for the inspiration!! If you click on the picture, you probably can see the piercing more clearly!!

#2 Embossing

We live in cowboy country, so the boho stamp sets and paper are always a hit and very appropriate.

Stamp Set: Bronc Buster, Everyday Flexible Phrases
Card Stock: Chocolate Chip, Really Rust, Western Sky Designer Paper
Ink: Chocolate Chip Craft Ink, Chocolate Chip, Gold Embossing Powder
Embellishments: Hodgepodge Hardware Antique Brass

I used Chocolate Chip Craft Ink to stamp the buckin' bronco and then poured clear embossing powder and heat set it. I also used a sponge dauber and sponged to give it a more "western" look.

#3 Embossing

I saw this card recently in Split Coast and printed it out because I knew I had to make it. Then I realized it was embossed, so perfect timing. I cased it from "casep". Thanks to her for the inspiration and to original poster Robinringtail for the idea of stamping on designer paper.

Stamp Set: Riot of Petals, All Holidays
Card Stock: Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Berry Bliss Designer Paper
Ink: Gold Embossing Powder and Gold Encore Pad, Pastels with Aquapainter
Embellishments: Pretty in Pink Grosgrain Ribbon
Punches: Large and Small Oval

This was fun and challenging!! Frist I stamped the Riot of Petals on the Berry Bliss Designer Paper - you can hardly tell it, but it does have a little color to it. I then colored the flowers and petals with pastel chalks using the aquapainter. That was fun and very simple to do. Then the challenge was to cut the squares - that WAS a challenge, but I think the effect is really stunning. I gold embossed the sentiment too!!

#4 Embossing

This card turned out better than I anticipated. I'm always needing sympathy cards, so decided to make this one I found on SCS. I changed it a bit, but really love the way it turned out

Stamp Set: Lovely as a Tree, Close as a Memory
Card Stock: Very Vanilla, Brushed Gold
Ink: Very Vanilla Craft Ink, Gold Encore Pad, Gold Embossing Powder, Clear Embossing Powder

I first stamped the trees with Very Vanilla Craft Ink and then poured clear embossing powder and heat set it. The scan definitely doesn't do this card justice as the trees just sparkle. I also embossed the sentiment with gold embossing powder.

#5 Embossing

This card was also cased from SCS with some changes. I think it's really nifty!! It's "scratch 'n sniff!!" Yep the apple smells like apple. I asked online for ideas and received the great suggestion to use apple cider mix. And it worked perfectly. Yummy!! And LOVE that sentiment!

Stamp Sets: Tart & Tangy, One of a Kind
Card Stock: Whisper White, Real Red, Summer Picnic Designer Paper
Ink: White Craft Ink, Garden Green Craft, Clear Embossing Powder, White Embossing Powder
Punch: Photo Corners

I stamped the sentiment with white craft and then embossed with white embossing powder. I stamped the apple with garden green craft ink and then poured the apple cider mixed with clear embossing powder over and heat set it. So fun to do scratch 'n sniff. I also made some bookmarks with each of the "flavors". Fun, fun!!

#6 Embossing

I had to try one more Scratch 'n Sniff. This time in orange.

Stamp Set: Tart & Tangy, Short & Sweet
Card Stock: Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Summer Picnic Designer Paper
Ink: Pumpkin Pie Craft Ink, Clear Embossing Powder
Embellishments: So Saffron Grosgrain Ribbon
Punches: Scallop Circle, 1 3/8" & 1 1/4" Circle, Large and Small Oval

I again used unsweetened orange Koolaid and mixed it with clear embossing powder . I also embossed the sentiment with pumpkin pie and clear embossed it!!

#7 Embossing

This card turned out better than I anticipated. The Taken with Teal is really striking with the white embossing!!

Stamp Set: Always, Short & Sweet
Card Stock: Whisper White, Taken with Teal
Ink: White Craft Ink, Taken with Teal, White Embossing Powder, Clear Embossing Powder
Punches: Large and Small Oval, Photo Corners

Just love that heart in the Always stamp set. It's SO elegant. With the white craft ink and white embossing powder, it really stands out. I used the taken with teal craft ink and clear embossed the sentiment. I think the photo corners, really sets off this card!!

#8 Embossing

This will make a great wedding card. So far no weddings this summer, but there will be one sometime!!

Stamp Set: Heartfelt, Greetings Galore
Card Stock: Whisper White, Brushed Gold
Ink: River Rock, Gold Encore, Gold Embossing Powder, Clear Embossing Powder
Embellishments: White Taffeta Ribbon

A very simple, but elegant card. I stamped the flower in River Rock and then the outline (two-step stamping) with gold Encore ink and then gold embossing powder and heat set it. The sentiment is stamped with the gold Encore pad and then embossed with gold embossing powder.

That's all for tonight - will add more tomorrow night!
