Explosion Box

We had a great time yesterday - Catherine taught us how to make Explosion Boxes. These make wonderful gifts. The are a box, that when the top is removed explodes with wonderful pictures!! We didn't get the pictures done, but you can get the idea!!

Serene Sunflower

Last night I had fun making some cards with another retiring set, Serene Sunflower. I DO hope SU comes out with another sunflower or daisy set. They are a real favorite. And this set can even be used for holiday cards!!

Here are the five cards I made from this set:

I stamped the wreath in Garden Green Craft Ink and then clear embossed. I also stamped the Aida Cloth Background in real red craft ink adn then clear embossed it.

Retiring Sets: Abundant Joy, Fine Lace

Last night I got out some of my retired sets and thought I would make some cards! It's really sad to see this set Abundant Joy retire(Page 104 in the Fall and Winter 2007 Idea and Catalog). This set includes a beautiful rose, hydrangea, dogwood (maybe?), and some I can't identify, but they are really elegant!

Here are three cards I made:




Stamp Set: Abundant Joy, All Holidays
Card Stock: Regal Rose, Basic Black, Whisper White, Certainly Celery Designer Paper
Ink: Basic Black, Regal Rose and Certainly Celery Stampin' Write Markers
Embellishments: Word Window Punch, 1/4" Black Grosgrain Ribbon, Rhinestone Brads

I stamped the background of the card base with Regal Rose (stamped off to make it look like a watermark - doesn't really show up in the scan).



Stamp Set: Abundant Joy, Fine Lace
Card Stock: Basic Black, River Rock, Whisper White
Ink: Black Craft Ink, Basic Black Ink, River Rock
Embellishments: Clear Embossing Powder

I stamped Fine Lace on the River Rock in Black Craft Ink and then clear embossed it. It's quite shiny, but doesn't really show! I colored the flower petals and stems in River Rock with the blender pen - it's very faint, but adds just a touch of color

Card Stock: Groovy Guava. Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black, Apricot Appeal and Certainly Celery Stampin' Write Markers
Embellishments: River Rock Double Stitched Ribbon, Black Brads

I stamped one of the flowers on the back of the card - didn't stamp off this time, so it's a bit darker. I used a sponge dauber and daubbed around the flower - as you can see, this is one of my favorite techniques!! Mounted the ribbon with a mini glue dot. The Apricot Appeal goes good with the groovy guava!!

82 Cards from Simply Scrappin' Kit Round Up

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We certainly did. Kids were home so that made it very good.

During the weekend, my daughter and I decided to try the Simply Scrappin' Kits (pages 174-177 in the Idea Book and Catalog). We chose the Round Up set on page 176. Instead of using it for scrapbooking, we followed some very good instructions given by Stampin Amanda and Sarahtaptap on Splitcoast Stampers. These gals shared wonderful instructions for making 60 cards from the kits.

Holly and I ended up using the pages left for scrapbooking to make more cards. I made 82 cards and Holly 80. What a productive weekend!!

So.....I'm sharing my creations with you.

Sometime in the new year, we plan to have a class using the Simply Scrappin' kits and make them into cards. Lots of possibilities. Most of the scrapbooking kits come with 8 - 12 x 12 sheets of textured cardstock (4 different colors and 2 of each color) and 6 - 12 x 12 pieces of coordinating designer print papers (two different designs which makes 4 different prints and three of each sheet) Plus 6 sheets of self-adhesive diecuts. Makes putting together cards and scrapbooking pages a breeze!!

Fabulous Flowers

Tonight I decided to focus on one stamp set and see what I could come up with. As usual, I cased these ideas with some changes of my own. But what fun!! As you can see these cards would fit so many different occasions! Hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I enjoyed making them!



Fabulous Flowers #1

Stamp Set: Fabulous Flowers, Garden Silhouettes
Card Stock: Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black Craft, Basic Black, Versamark
Embellishments: White Embossing Powder, Clear Embossing Powder, Silver Brads
Punch: Ticket Corner Punch
Technique: I stamped the big flower with black craft ink and then heat set clear embossing powder. I then cut out the flower and mounted it with Stampin' Dimensionals. I put three silver brads in the center which are hard to see in the scan. Underneath the big flower, I stamped the flower from Garden Silhouettes with versamark and then heat set with white embossing powder.



Fabulous Flowers #2

Stamp Set: Fabulous Flowers, Sincere Salutations, Linen Background
Card Stock: Perfect Plum, Pale Plum
Ink: Perfect Plum, Pale Plum
Embellishments: Ice Rhinestone Brads, Stampin' Dimensionals
Technique: I stamped three big flowers and cut two of them down and mounted them on dimensionals to pop them up.

These next six cards are all made from the same sketch, but all with different colors of card stock and designer papers - can you see the possibilites with just one idea? Such fun!! I'll call this technique "Rectangle Layering"

I made 4 layers: #1 layer is the card base; #2 layer is a lighter matching color; #3 is the card base color; #4 is the designer paper which is cut in half length-wise and then in half vertically and then placed apart to show the card stock beneath!

I punched the snow blossom and then used the scallop circle punch. I then glued the punch with the 2-way glue and heat embossed the iridescent ice embossing powder. I then mounted it on the 1 3/8" blue bayou circle with dimensionals

I punched the "Tis the Season" on white and cut out with the scallop circle punch. I then punched it again on Soft Sky and used the 1 3/8" and 1" circle and used the 1" punch to cut our the circle. Then cut out the little snow flake from Punch Pals and raised it with dimensionals - clear as mud?



Blue Bayou Merry Christmas

I stamped the small flower in craft white ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. Adds a beautiful effect!



Tea Bag Folding Technique

This card just really intrigued me - I just had to try it. I didn't add a sentiment, but I'm going to use it this year - I just love this!! And, yes, I will be happy to do a technique class on this. SO many possibilities with this lovely technique
