Moving Away

Some of our friends are moving away - from Oregon to North Carolina. We will dearly miss them. Here's the card I made. Saw some ideas online and then went with my own creation

Stamp Sets: Loads of Love, Short & Sweet, Weathered Background,A Little Love (Retired)
Card Stock: Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise, Taken with Teal
Ink: Basic Black, Stampin' Write Markers: Going Gray, Black, Real Red
Embellishments: Jumbo Pewter Brads
Punches: Large and Small Oval And Crop-A-Dile

I had fun with this one. I saw it done in different colors, but same basic design. Since I don't have the Accessories to Loads of Love, I made my own boxes and found the chair in an old retired set. Inside I used Swirly Verses that says "Time passes...friendship stays right where it's put!"

More Flip Flop Albums

I have had fun using some different designer papers for the flip flop albums. Thought I would share these, so you, who want to attend my class on May 24th, can get some ideas.

Groovy Guava Designer Prints Flip Flop Album

This album is done with the prints designer series papers sold on page 171. I used Groovy Guava - and depending on which colors you want, this could be done any in of the colors. And I matched up with the Groovy Guava Textured Card Stock. I used the large white flower from the Pretties Kit and sponged it with groovy guava ink - then cut out a 3/4" circle and adhered that in the center with a large half pearl from the Pretties Kit. For the inside doors, I punched using the 5 petal flower punch with the Groovy Guava textured cardstock and then mounted a smaller flower from the Pretties Kit along with a rhinestone brad in the center.

Spring Silhouettes Flip Flop Album

This album uses the Spring Silhouettes Designer Paper (page 170) and Soft Sky Textured Card Stock. I added just a touch of color with the flower from Live Your Dreams Stamp Set (Occasions Minis 2008). I just love the soft colors in the pack of designer papers. Interestingly enough I set out to make a boho album and the pack I chose instead was Spring Silhouettes. This paper really resembles beautiful wall paper and I was pleased how it turned out!!

Tart & Tangy Flip Flop Album

The Tart and Tangy and Summer Picnic coordinating stamp set and paper has SO many possibilities. I went with the more orange and green shades from the set this time, but next will be the reds. Although it's hard to tell just from these pictures, I used Only Orange and Wild Wasabi Textured card stock for the base colors. A nice change. So when you are deciding which colors to use, you can mix and match!!

Faux Wood Technique

Faux Wood Technique

This technique has intrigued me, but so far I hadn't tried it. Now I have and it's FUN!! Perfect for the men in our lives.

There is a retired jumbo wheel, dry brush, which works great, but since it's retired and no longer available, I needed to find another way. And, of course, where there's a will there's a way - right? Especially in stamping. I cannot believe some of the gals out there and their wonderful ideas. So, I searched and sure enough found wht I wanted.

Card #1 Faux Wood Technique

Stamp Set: For Father (Occasions Mini 2008), All Holidays
Card Stock: More Mustard, Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip Very Vanilla
Ink: Chocolate Chip for the image and White Craft Ink and Chocolate Chip Classic for the woodgrain background
Embellishments: Hodgepodge Hardware Antique Brass
Punches: Small Oval, Photo Corners

For this technique I used Creamy Caramal Cardstock. I ran my White Craft Ink pad over the cardstock and then used my chocolate chip ink pad (this is one that will be used ONLY for this technique now!!) again. I let this piece dry while I made the rest of my card. Then I drew in the boards and nails with a chocolate chip Stampin' Write Marker.

Card #2 Faux Wood Technique

Stamp Set: Noble Deer, Short and Sweet
Card Stock: Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Very Vanilla
Ink: Chocolate Chip for the image and White Craft Ink and Chocolate Chip for the Wood Grain Background
Embellishments: Antique Brass Brads

Same technique as above except I used Close to Cocoa Background - makes the boards darker!! All a matter of the look you are going for!!

Card #3 Faux Wood Technique

Stamp Set: Wanted

Ink: Chocolate Chip Craft Ink, Clear Embossing Powder
Embellishments: Antique Brass Brad, Hemp Twine

Same method as cards #1 and 2. I embossed the horse and the sentiment with chocolate chip craft ink and clear embossing powder.
